This Is Me

Claudia Tecuceanu, Calgary portrait photographer, Canadian fine art photographer, Calgary portrait photography studio, portrait photographer in Calgary NW, professional women portraits

Hi! I’m Claudia.

For over 14 years, I’ve had the privilege of capturing the heart and soul of visionary women and their families through professional portrait photography services.

I specialize in creating truly transformational experiences, from empowering Beauty and Boudoir sessions that celebrate your unique radiance, to family and couple photography that beautifully preserves the genuine essence of your connections. I also help visionary women connect deeply with their audience through authentic branding photography that tells their compelling story.

I’m a native Romanian with a dash of Hungarian, calling Calgary, Alberta Canada my home now. If you think I’m French, Russian or Italian because of my accent, you are not alone. I get that a lot!

I’m also a wife, mother of two boys and, believe it or not, a bookworm who never skipped school on account of “doing the right thing.” 😉

Did I mention that I’m a very good listener and many of my friends think I’m a fuzzy, energetic bomb of happiness?! What they have no clue about is that I’m an introvert. Like 81% of me to be exact, according to the personality test I took.

Speaking of which, I’m very empathetic. Scroll down to read 5 fun facts about me.

Heard enough?

Philosophy

As a visual artist, I create beautiful images of you and your loved ones. During my portrait photography sessions, I go that extra mile to perfect each set I work with, from creating a mood board to guide the style of the photo session to making sure your necklace is straight. Because it’s all in the details!

Each photo session I craft is a transformational experience meant to shift your perspective from dreading the photo shoot to actually being excited about it. Plus, I take the time to get to know you, so your photo session is as unique as you are.

Be honest.

How many photos do you have that will never see the light of day, whether as a framed print, artistic canvas or heirloom album?

Let’s change that.

Cherish your photos and display them proudly because you deserve to smile whenever you see them.

5 Things To Know About Me

01

I’ll help you relax and be yourself.

Mothers who can’t remember the last time they wore something other than their leggings find themselves posing like they’re in a Vogue cover shoot with my gentle direction.

Introverted kids often become my BFFs for the day and give me the silliest laughs and fun moments. And, if you can believe it, dogs that are camera-shy want to be petted and play with me.

Little did I know that my empathetic nature also meant I would befriend and eventually marry that tea-loving, nerdy, analytical, awesome guy who’s actually a softie with a big heart and high expectations of people.

I’m looking at you, hubby!

02

All things are connected.

If you first saw my work through an old friend in 2012, who you used to go the gym with, then years later, I popped up in your Instagram feed; well, it was always meant to be. Let’s bring your vision to life!

03

I am a positive person.

My hubby says our boys get along from time to time, and usually they bicker, while I say they usually get along, and sometimes they bicker.

04

Harmony is awesome.

My friendly personality makes people comfortable in my presence. After all, I welcome each unique individual and encourage them to be their true self.

05

My work and the things I create must be meaningful.

Always. No exceptions.

To the world and to myself.

They also must give me the chance to live out my core values.

Portrait Photography allows me to bring meaning into people’s lives, capturing emotions and preserving their stories for generations. It’s a way to ensure they have lasting images of their mothers, partners, and loved ones—of special moments, from toddler tantrums to teenage eye-rolls, from graduation days to the grandparents who are still with us and have meaningful tales to tell.

Community Impact

I believe in helping and empowering others, that's why in 2021, I partnered with Discovery House to help mothers on their journey of hope and healing.

The Portrait Photography Project

Every mother deserves beautiful photos of herself and her children, and that's why I volunteer each year to photograph the families supported by Discovery House.

These photos give mothers and their children the chance to reflect on their new family unit and provide them with hope for a bright new future.

I've also partnered up with Lifethreads Albums to offer a beautiful 8" x 10" framed print as a keepsake to the families so they have something tangible that they can cherish and look at with joy.

Life is better when we fill our homes with treasures on our walls!

The Knitting Project

Growing up, I was fascinated by my grandmothers, who were so good at knitting and made us warm quilts. You can imagine my joy when they taught me how to knit from an early age!

I racked my brain on how to make a difference in our community, and I realized that mothers who live at the Discovery House don't think about pretty things for themselves. I wanted them to have something beautiful that would keep them warm during the cold winter months. And the knitted neck warmer project was born.

Now, each spring, I raid the Michael's sale aisles to choose colourful, soft, bulky yarn for the neck warmers. Summer and Fall are when I knit, and come wintertime, I deliver the neck warmers to Discovery House, just in time for the Holidays.
