Here we are, on our last trip of the 3 part journey with this wonderful family. You’ve seen them before in my Winter Wonderland and Colorful Spring posts on the blog. The B. family wanted to capture the beauty of the Alberta scenery in their lifestyle family session, but during three distinctive seasons: Winter, Spring and Summer.
For the Summer session, they really wanted to immortalize the badlands and their wilderness, so we packed our bags, gear, kids and went to Dry Island Buffalo Jump Provincial Park, a place of awe, history and colours. Our first stop was the Buffalo Jump cliff – wow! what a spectacular sight lay before our eyes! The valley opened up before us, with its woods, river, badlands and steep cliffs. Did you know that this park is the site of an ancient buffalo jump, where Cree native people drove bison over the cliffs in large numbers to provide for their tribes? I didn’t! It’s amazing just imagining people’s lives back then – so different from today!
We did some quick shots at the cliff and went farther away in the Provincial Park, exploring the badlands and keeping up with the kids who wanted to see all and climb every hoodoo they eyed. It was definitely one interesting session and I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I did capturing them!
